We are Dedicated to Protecting Your Data
Our network and information security consultants often have customer data residing on systems at SNT or on laptops in the field. Because this data may be sensitive and confidential we take extraordinary measures to ensure that your data doesn't fall into the wrong hands.
We encrypt all of your data using AxCrypt from Axon Data and apply two-factor access control using AxCrypt Helper from SNT. Before our consultant leaves your site or any SNT facility with customer data, the consultant encrypts the data using a passphrase protected key residing on removable medium (i.e.. flash drive, memory stick, etc.). The data is encrypted using a 128bit AES algorithm and the key is stored separately from the Laptop or storage device. This means that even if a laptop is stolen no data will be accessible.
No Identification
All references to customer identities are obscured by using AxCrypt's rename feature that renames all encrypted files to seemingly random character strings. Folder names and documents referring to customer data use a numeric identifier.
No Residual Data
All computers used to process and store customer data use extensive data scrubbing techniques to remove any residual data that may contain customer data or references to customer identity. UltraSentry 2.0 from IDM Computer Solutions Inc. is used to scrub temporary data from computers used to process or store your data. The following steps are performed each time the consultant logs in, logs off, shuts down or starts up the computer:
- Clean Temporary Files
- Clean User Temporary Files
- Clean Recycle Bin
- Clean Internet Temporary Files
- Clean Recently Used Documents List
- Clean Search History
- Clean Network History
- Clean Media Player Recent Run Files
- Clean Run History
UltraSentry is also used for file deletion, so that no unscrubbed deleted files reside on the disk between logins. In addition to UltraSentry, the Windows command "cipher /w" is run daily by the task scheduler to wipe all unused space (including file slack space) on all disks.
